Bougainvillaea is naturally a strong and chaotic plant that forms long, posterior stems covered with sharp thorns. The leaves are large and ovate, wavy along the edges and hairy at the base. The bracts are red, dark pink or purple, the small flowers are cream colored. Its spines can be large and curved.
